Transforming Ourselves, Empowering our Children

Children / Parents
1 Children and Young People.jpg

Children and young people can inevitably suffer from difficulties, these can range from anxiety, depression, phobias, self harming behaviour and obsessive compulsive behaviour to name some.

Supporting them during these times can be a challenge. They can be in denial of these difficulties, they can push your attempts of support away and become less engaging and interacting. Even becoming secretive or angry and aggressive.

They are in a state of confusion and overwhelm, they are struggling to make sense of their feelings and thoughts. This can lead to a multilayered challenge of how best to approach and intervene as a parent.

We can help them with:

- Understanding and managing their emotions.

- Addressing issues that are more problematic to manage within the family alone.

- Feeling happier and more confident in themselves.

- Increase resilience, motivation and self-esteem.

- Building up their skills to regulate their own emotions.

2 Parent and Carer.jpg

Being a parent/carer will mean that you’ll get angry, that you’ll lose it, that you’ll feel inadequate, hurt, lost, lonely and afraid when trying to support your children.

Yet with support to look at what’s happening and develop an understanding of your responses and why they may be there we can bring around change.

Parenting holds many demands and each of them require different skills and approaches. As you are not only a parent, and with other demands placed on you it can be a real balancing act. Taking care of your own emotional well-being and addressing any of your own challenges will help you and you child.

We can help you:

- With strategies that give you the ability to support yourself  to improve your emotions and responses in the moment.

- Look deeper at where your responses may come from and support change.

- Achieve a greater sense of wellbeing and overall health, EFT is proven to reduce health difficulties caused by ongoing stress.

About

About

Creating Courageous Children

Creating Courageous Children has been in the making for the last few years, Julianne has worked throughout her career within the field of children, young people and families. She has been a qualified mental health nurse for 20 years working in a variety of roles as a CAMHS practitioner in both inpatient and community settings.

Julianne has the experience of working with young people when they are at their most distressed. As well as CAMHS she has worked in the fields of drug and alcohol, criminal justice and eating disorders. Her approach is caring and creative, she works with the individual from where they are currently and together will move forward into better health and wellbeing.

Julianne has found that in order to make real changes it helps to work at some level with the family as a whole. Working in isolation from key members of the young person’s life won’t necessarily get the desired effect or make sustained change. Children are influenced by their environment and the people within it, so for change to happen all 3 aspects need to be acknowledged, understood and supported.

Julianne began to introduce Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) to the children and families she works with, and is amazed to see results so quickly. EFT works well alongside the other therapeutic techniques she uses and compliments her skill set.

Her own healing and training has shown her how effective EFT is in changing not only her emotional health but her confidence and self- esteem.

With her wealth of experience as a mental health nurse and her skills of using EFT she is quickly able to support people in finding their core issues, and support them to be happier, healthier and more courageous in being themselves. Her experience has given her the knowledge and insight to understand the complexities and challenges of family life and with that she is able to offer support in a manner that is non-judgmental and inclusive to all backgrounds.

Through Creating Courageous Children Julianne would like to offer you the opportunity to begin your own discovery of what can be created with some courage and change.

Schools
6 schools.jpg

Schools and teachers play a large part in children's development. It's where they go not only for their education but also for social engagement. They don't just learn how to read and write or the history of the world. They learn how to navigate relationships, how to use the information that's received and to develop their personality and character. They learn what interests them and how they can express this into the world.

A school that promotes positive, emotional health in children and young people will help them learn to understand and express their feelings, build their confidence and emotional resilience and therefore their capacity to learn.  Schools have a direct influence on the emotional health of their pupils so are best placed to introduce simple effective coping strategies.

All children have different learning styles and abilities. They don't all fit the standard mould. But all children need to be in a receptive state for learning to occur. When children are anxious, worried or upset their brains aren't in a position to engage with learning. They will be in a place of stress, which shuts down the part of the brain needed to learn.

EFT is being used more and more within classrooms as it has shown great results in helping children become calmer and let go of emotions that are preventing them engaging in learning and interacting with their peers.

Julianne has worked with schools in many of her past roles, she has taken mental health awareness and intervention into various school settings and can be contacted to discuss how Creating Courageous Children could bring EFT into your school. Feel free to contact her on the details below, she is based in Poole in Dorset.

4 Appointments.jpg

Julianne offers online appointments.

There are great benefits of receiving therapy online as you reduce the time it takes for an appointment drastically when you cut out the driving and parking of traditional therapy appointments.

In these days of technology we are all use to using platforms such as Zoom and Skype for connecting with people, children and young people can often find this a preferred choice.

When working online is it important to have a place that feels safe and quiet and has no possibility of people hearing or intruding in on your appointment. The platforms used are all secure and meet GDPR regulations so you would be safe to speak. Julianne adheres to the utmost standards of confidentiality and meets all legal obligations.

Initial appointments would involve meeting with yourself and your child /young person or you alone to discuss what the difficulties are and how we can begin to address them then Julianne will begin introducing the process of EFT. Due to her extensive skills and experience she may introduce some other therapeutic techniques initially if it's felt appropriate to the process of engagement.

It’s difficult for young people usually to engage with strangers, for any of us we can find it intimidating to open up to someone we don’t know. Due to Julianne's experience of working in the field she has good engagement skills that make the experience easier and more enjoyable.

Appointments will last up to an hour and are charged at that rate.

20 minute free consultation offered.

60 minutes appointment = £60

6 week programmes = £330

Payment to be made 24hr before appointment. Cancellations made within 24hrs of appointment will be charged. Appointment reminders will be sent prior to the day, with payment details attached.

Julianne is trained in safeguarding and is DBS checked.
